Welcome to the Alewyfe Apothecary!
“Making the world a cleaner, greener, happier place!”
Alewyfe soaps are handmade small-batch artisanal creations. They are lovingly crafted with all-natural and organic ingredients, including homegrown herbs and botanicals. These handcut and molded bars and bath bombs are minimally packaged with reused and recycled materials. My soaps are gentle and mild, and look and smell good enough to eat! The blends are inspired by my culinary training, and the name Alewyfe is an homage to the female brewsters and tavernkeepers of the 15th century… woman-made, indulgent suds meant for sharing!
Alewyfe soaps and scrubs are cooked up in my soap kitchen with a custom blend of organic olive oil, organic coconut oil, organic sustainably harvested palm oil, and may contain neem oil, grapeseed oil, hemp oil, castor oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, or beeswax. All bars are vegetarian, and most are vegan unless they contain honey or beeswax. While the recipe is the same (although I am always tweaking and experimenting to try to make the best soap possible!), because of the nature of the process and the natural ingredients, no two batches come out exactly alike. Please allow for some variation in shape and color- this is part of their charm! Check back soon for more photos!
