HIKE: Anna and Frederick Douglass Park, Chicago

A hand-drawn portrait of Anna Douglass installed on the back of a Chicago park sign

Enjoy this photo essay of stunning Sunday sunsets over the Douglass Park lagoon, “catch and release” squirrel hunting with the fellas, sycamore seed balls and dappled bark, chinkapin, honey locust, hackberry, and bodark, hundred+ acre park walks, honking geese flocks and a Great Blurry Heron sighting (awkwardly chomping on a fish).

You don’t always have to go far to find nature. Sometimes, it’s right where you are, in the middle of the city.
