ADVENTURE: Birthdays and other days

#TBT to that day I turned forty.

Like many of my friends’ fortieths and other birthdays lately, it wasn’t what I had expected, but at least I got to spend it with my favorite fellas. And like the past few years, nothing was quite as planned, inasmuch as I *had* a plan, so I just tried to enjoy it for what it was, embrace spontaneity, and like you do, took a leap- into the cold lake, water like milk, and floated for a while, free.

I wish I could somehow tell the brooding teenaged kid who lived in a dorm across the street from these rocks 20-some odd years ago about some the things that would happen between, or at least, that it would continue to be wild and chaotic but ultimately, ok? We made it… And the future is fuckin’ weird?

Then I walked back to the car and grocery shopped in my soggy underwear (quick-dry my ass… Didn’t) and now-half wet clothes. 😂 Consequences! But worth it.

Speaking of worth it, this pan-seared mustard-glazed salmon with brown butter fried sage leaves on a bed of homemade lamb’s quarter egg noodles in a light cream sauce. Sorry y’all missed it. Maybe next year?
